Our Large Canal House

Our large holiday home "Simmerdeis an der Gracht" is located in Friedrichstadt which has a strong dutch influence and is also affectionately known as "Little Amsterdam". It is generously designed for 6-8 people. It is located directly at the inland port, from where you can paddle directly from the jetty in front of the door with two in-house canoes, two SUPs and a Canadian Canoe (for several people) onto the canals or the Treene. Restaurants, bakery, cafés and quaint shops are just around the corner on the market square.
The historic house, which was completely renovated to a high standard and lovingly furnished at the end of 2022, has a spacious living and dining room area on the ground floor. In the living room there is a very comfortable pull-out sofa bed (140 x 200 cm with topper) where two people can sleep.
The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, stove, oven and all the common kitchen tools you need for cooking. The downstairs bathroom with shower bath also opens from there. The bathroom is equipped with a shower and, like on Warft Simmerdeis, there is also a hair dryer, cosmetic mirror, complimentary shower gel, shampoo & conditioner, soap and body lotion and of course towels in different sizes per person.
The entire lower area is equipped with underfloor heating, so that you always have warm feet even in spring, autumn and winter.
On the first floor are the two bedrooms, each equipped with Smart TV. The master bedroom for two people with a box spring bed (160 cm x 200 cm) has a wonderful view of the canal and Treene river. The second bedroom with an upholstered bed (160 x 200 cm) overlooks the freshly landscaped green roofs and courtyard overlooking the old workshop. The 2 loft units are now finished and are available for rental.
On the first floor is another bright, cheerful bathroom with a shower bath and a view of the canal and the Treene river.
A staircase leads to the yoga suite - the third bedroom. The room where you can meditate, practice yoga, or simply sleep. Yoga equipment such as yoga mats, meditation cushions, yoga blocks and yoga straps are welcome - this way you can find the peace and quiet that you sometimes lack in everyday life.
WLAN and bed linen for each guest is of course available.
The holiday home is a non-smoking apartment - smoking is not permitted.

Our Small Canal House

The small canal house is a self-contained cottage with a maisonette apartment on the 1st and 2nd floors. The street entrance has a passageway to the inner courtyard and the loft apartments of Simmerdeis on the canal – only holiday guests and staff are permitted to use this passageway.
A staircase leads from the private entrance to the maisonette apartments on the 1st and 2nd floors. The main living area is the kitchen-diner, featuring a generously equipped kitchenette with all the kitchen utensils a home cook needs. There's also a comfortable, pull-out sofa bed with an extra footstool, making it a great place to stretch your legs while reading or watching TV on the smart TV. The view of the canal from the living room is unique. You can observe waterfowl and let your mind wander. Also in the kitchen-diner is a dining table with 4 chairs.
Off the hallway is the bathroom with a walk-in shower, toilet, and hand basin, as well as the master bedroom with a comfortable upholstered bed. The bedroom can be completely darkened so that your night's sleep isn't disturbed. You can enjoy your first coffee or breakfast on the balcony, which leads off the bedroom and onto the inner courtyard.
From the hallway, a somewhat steep spiral staircase leads to two bedrooms on the second floor. The canal-facing bedroom also features a smart TV, while the second bedroom overlooks the inner courtyard. The small canal house is designed so that several single travelers can each have their own bedroom.
In the backyard, you'll find not only Simmerdeis's loft apartments on the canal, but also outbuildings where you can rent kayaks and SUPs free of charge. Water sports are a big deal in Friedrichstadt, and exploring the town from the water and stopping off at one of the restaurants for a drink or snack is great fun.

About Us
We (Stefanie and Johannes Sebelin) live at "Warft Simmerdeis" on the Eiderstedt peninsula in North Frisia; when we are on-site, we are your direct points of contact. We share the property with our two dogs, sheep, and chickens. Set amidst magnificent nature and mature trees, our thatched-roof house—featuring a park-like garden—also offers two additional lovely vacation apartments.
"Warft Simmerdeis" marked the beginning of our vacation rental business; the owner-managed "Simmerdeis" group has since expanded to include "Simmerdeis an der Gracht" in Friedrichstadt and "Simmerdeis am Hafen" in Husum. "Simmerdeis an der Gracht" comprises two canal-side houses overlooking the waterway, as well as two loft apartments.
"Simmerdeis am Hafen" in Husum is a private penthouse apartment right by the water, offering views of the inner harbor and the historic old town.
We are located close to both Husum and Friedrichstadt, allowing us to be on hand quickly should you need anything arranged or discussed.
